Ivrea, Città Industriale del XX Secolo
Piazza Vittorio Emanuele n.1, 10015 Ivrea (TO)
Ivrea is an Italian city of extraordinary historical and architectural importance, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2018. The candidacy was recognized on July 1, 2018 by the UNESCO World Heritage Committee in Manama, capital of Bahrain. The city represents a masterpiece of twentieth-century industrial and urban design, strongly tied to the entrepreneurial vision of Adriano Olivetti and his eponymous company. The site comprises over 100 architectural assets, including the famous Red Brick Factory, the ICO Workshops, residential buildings for employees, social services, recreational and administrative facilities. All the buildings testify to an innovative approach to the industrial city that integrates work, housing, culture and social well-being. For a complete visit, a free audio guide is available online, narrated by Marco Peroni in Italian and Vittoria Burton in English. An interactive map facilitates orientation within the inscribed area. The city continues to reinvent itself with enhancement projects, such as the recent restyling of tourist signage along Via Jervis.
