A territory, infinite emotions

The Canavese is a mosaic of diverse landscapes: cultivated hills, moraine lakes, wild alpine valleys and villages where time seems suspended.

Alpine Valleys and Gran Paradiso

The Orco Valley and the Soana Valley lead to the heart of the Gran Paradiso National Park, at over 2,700 meters. Unspoiled landscapes, ibex and eternal glaciers within hiking distance.

Five Morainic Lakes

Lake Sirio, Lake Viverone, Lake Pistono, Lake Nero and Lake San Michele form a unique lake system, left behind by the retreat of the Aosta Valley glacier. Clear waters for swimming, kayaking and windsurfing.

Over 70 Castles and Medieval Villages

No other Italian province concentrates so many castles in such a small space. From the Castello di Masino to the Forte di Bard, every hilltop hides a tower, a fortress, a story to tell.

Erbaluce and Carema: Mountain Wines

Erbaluce di Caluso is Piedmont's first white DOC, today DOCG: versatile, fresh, also produced as sparkling wine and dessert wine. Carema DOC is born from heroic terraced vineyards, cultivated at over 600 meters on nebbiolo.

Carnival of Ivrea

In the weeks leading up to Easter, Ivrea transforms into the setting for one of Italy's oldest and most spectacular events: the Battle of the Oranges. A choral rite evoking the people's revolt against medieval tyranny, engaging the entire city with costumed processions and the historic parade of the Miller's Wife's Cart through the squares.

Olivetti's Legacy and Modern Design

Ivrea is the "Industrial City of the 20th Century" according to UNESCO: Adriano Olivetti's Olivetti has left factories, canteens, kindergartens and residential neighborhoods that are masterpieces of modern social design.

4 UNESCO Sites

Few territories in Italy concentrate so many UNESCO recognitions in such a small area: the industrial city of Ivrea (Olivetti), the Sacro Monte di Belmonte in Valperga, the Ducal Castle of Agliè, and the prehistoric pile dwellings of Lake Viverone. Four World Heritage sites spanning millennia of history.

What to Do in Canavese

From mountain adventures to wine tastings in the cellar: each season offers unique experiences in an authentic and still little-known territory.

Trekking and Hiking

From the Via Francigena to the trails of Gran Paradiso, Canavese offers routes for all levels. Walk among chestnut groves, terraced vineyards and stone villages, or tackle the high-altitude trails of the Soana Valley.

Cycling Tourism and E-Bike

Ten easy e-bike itineraries through the Morainic Amphitheatre, the five lakes and the vineyard hills. Or challenge yourself with the "Morenic Trail" of 119 km for the most experienced. Rentals and guides available in the area.

Wine Tasting and Food and Wine Experiences

Tours among the wineries of the Alpine Vineyards Road: tastings of Erbaluce DOCG, Carema DOC and Canavese Rosso. On the table: bagna caoda, tofeja, nocciolini di Chivasso and the legendary torta 900 of Ivrea.

# Sports on the Lakes and Rafting

Kayaking and SUP on the morainic lakes, rafting on the rapids of the Dora Baltea: Canavese is a paradise for water sports. Lake Viverone hosts international sailing and windsurfing competitions every year.

Paragliding and Adventure

Tandem flights over the Morainic Amphitheater to admire from above the glacial landscape unique in the world. Among Italy's most spectacular takeoffs, with views of lakes, vineyards, and the Alps in the background.

Villages and Cultural Itineraries

Itineraries among medieval castles, Sabauda villas, Romanesque churches and the masterpieces of Olivetti design. The Valchiusella and the Valle Sacra hide authentic villages where architecture in stone and slate tells centuries of history.
